Look, Daddy ...
One day while Johnny was peeling the potatoes for dinner Bess came into the kitchen looking very seriously and
asked "Daddy, where did I come from?"
Johnny almost cut his own thumb off at the shock of it.
Then took a deep breath drying his fingers and sat down with his little girl on his lap and started to explained.
He tried very hard to be as sensible and matter of fact.
But couldnīt help being a bit lyrical - being Johnny -o* - desribing how Mummy and Daddy had made their
darling little girls and how they have grown one after another inside Mummy getting big enough to be born.
Bess certainly listened very attentively - both girls love it when Johnny tells stories *O*
But when Johnny finally stopped talking and with another deep breath said "Did you understand that, honey?" she
said "Nooo ... Look, Daddy - Amy from across the road keep on - bragging - that sheīs from England. Am I to say then - that
you and Mummy just made me yourself ..."

Birthday-presents
Some years back before Susie was born Johnny caught up Bess one day she was passing and sat down hugging the
giggling little girl to him saying "Now, young lady - what can such a little silly sweetie want for her birthday?"
Bess thought for a moment. Then ventured "Could I have a sister to play with? ... or a brother if there are no
sisters left?"
"You most certainly can!" Johnny said hugging and kissing his darling little child knowing a child - Susie, that
is - was under way.
Next year much the same happened.
But in the mean time Bessie had found out that there wasnīt much play in a newborn baby so when asked the same
she again pondered the question a while and then asked "Do you think - that ... if itīs too much trouble - Mummy could make
a puppie this time? Like the one Lisa down at the grocers has, please"
